Dedicated hosting provides access to a private and personalized web server, which can be only utilized by a single webmaster. There are two types of dedicated hosting namely managed hosting and unmanaged hosting. Further, there are different degrees of the managed hosting, first being fully managed hosting, which is a full service solution and includes support of 24 hour, and second being partial managed hosting which is for more-limited solutions.

Different providers of web hosting have different opinions of the fully and partially managed hosting. In simple words, the services advertised as fully managed by one hosting provider can be partially managed for the other one.

The advantage with the managed hosting is that you can relax and focus on other business aspects while the hosting provider will deal with the admin aspects of the server management. As you do not have to concentrate on the updation, maintenance and optimization of the performance of the server, hence you can enhance the productivity and spend the remaining time, and the monetary and the physical resources on more important business endeavors. The cost of managed hosting is more than the unmanaged one, but it can save the additional money by removing the requirement of technical assistance, which is huge for an hourly basis.

Now we will discuss some of the cons of managed hosting. With the support of managed hosting, there comes a less amount of authority and power. Though all the plans of dedicated hosting give you the right to for installing the new softwares and altering the basic server configuration, the fully managed plans of hosting reduce some of the freedom by designating some of the tasks to the support staff of web hosting. As there is additional cost involved with managed hosting compared to the unmanaged one, but this extra cost cannot be warranted if you are already having knowledge and expertise of the server.
