New to Webhosting? Learn The Basics Part Three of Four
This section is dedicated to the kinds of hosting you can buy. Now that you know the basics you will need to know the basic types of hosting and what separates them besides the obvious.
There are around 19 different types of hosting and probably more if you carry on to sub-categorise them. However, in order to keep this simple we will look at the most basic four, these are; shared hosting, VPS hosting (virtual private server), reseller hosting and dedicated hosting.
Shared hosting; Shared hosting is the favourite of the majority of new webmasters as it is primarily cheap, has everything ready installed for instant use and is quick to be setup and used. The main issues with shared hosting is that you are sharing your server with literally hundreds of other people, meaning that if a few people decide to start trying to use more than their share, your site will be affected because of it. However, the benefits of shared hosting, such as the cheapness, ability to learn all the basic functions and test out different types of sites without worrying about compatibility make up for this minor possibility. Probably the best feature of shared hosting is that you will usually get live chat and a ticketing system.
Live chat is useful as you will be able to ask those nagging questions you have and quickly get a response or ask questions about why something on your site is not working or what a specific function does. These people are trained to help you and will help get you into the hosting world quickly. Note however, that not all websites provide this so you would be best suited to look around to ensure you get this particular service.
