Shared Hosting vs Virtual Private Severs
Shared hosting and VPS hosting both have their pro’s and their cons, however, before you jump on the cheap option of shared hosting you may want to give careful consideration to not only where you currently are in the online world, but also where you will be going. In light of this here are a few things to weigh up before you choose to buy either one;
Price; Price comes first as it always seems to be the first thing on everybody’s mind, the cost of hosting is not overly expensive, depending on the niche you are in and how many sales/commission sales/ad clicks you make. However, it is still a cost that you, as a customer, want to keep as a minimum and the cheapest hosting you can get is shared hosting there’s no denying that fact, but more than pricing needs to be thought of.
Domains; Not all webmasters attempt to make a large network of sites in order to make high profits, some webmasters are able to make only a few high profit making sites that they focus on. However, in both cases you need domain space, many shared hosting sites will only provide you between 5 – 25 domains, which you may think is enough at the time of buying, but you do need to think ahead to both bandwidth allocation and space.
Disk Space; Clearly all sites need space in order to host applications, files, videos and other such things. In this area, similar to the unlimited domains, VPS holds the advantage, with more space then you think you could need you will not have to worry about expanding your site beyond its limits or having to continuously upgrade your site in order to use less space.
This advantage is also followed on by the bandwidth allocation and the increased freedom with VPS. You will no longer need to worry about your neighbours on the server keeping within their limits and will be able to rest assured you get quicker responses and more personalised answers from VPS hosting (but we can only speak for ourselves of course).
